1920’s Ku Klux Klan archive, consisting of fifteen (15) pieces, includes: Typed Letter with stamped signatures of the Imperial Wizard and Imperial Kligrapp, 1p. quarto, February 23, 1923, on official Klan lettersheet, and reads: TO ALL GENII, GRAND DRAGONS AND HYDRAS, GREAT TITANS AND FURIES, KLEAGLES OF EVERY GRADE AND STATION, EXALTED CYCLOPS AND TERRORS OF CHARTERED AND PROVISIONAL KLANS, IN THE NAME OF THE VALIANT AND VENERATED DEAD, I GREET YOU: We are enclosing herewith copy of the revised Oath, which we would appreciate your putting into effect at once and return to us the old Oaths now in your possession...” VG. Accompanied by its original transmitall envelope sent Registered mail from Atlanta to Willis, Texas....plus; Three blank “Petition for Citizenship in the Invisible Empire” applications, each 1p. small quarto. Fine....plus; Typed Letter with stamped signature, 1p. quarto, January 16, 1923, Atlanta, on Klan letterhead, and reads “Two copies of the new Consitution and by laws have been furnished each Klan in the nation. This is to advise you that any additional copies which you desire will be furnished from this office at the rate of ten cents a copy...” VG...plus; Typed Letter Signed, “H.C. McCall”, 1p. quarto, January 30, 1923, addressed to Sam Beard, on “Imperial Palace Invisible Empire Knights of the Ku Klux Klan - Realm of Texas Office of Great Titan” letterhead and reads: “...I have received the following communication from the Great Titan of Province No. 5, Mr. Ralph H. Cameron, San Antonio, Texas, which has reference to all Klansmen in his Province. ‘For your information I beg to advise you that all Klansmen belonging to Klans in good and regular standing...have been issued blue dues cards...” VG...plus; Klan Document Signed, “H.C. McCall” Great Titan, 1p. folio, Realm of Texas, c. 1922, and reads in part: “...On Jany 10th, your quarterly report for the 4th quarter of 1922 will be due at this office and this letter is being sent to you in the hope that you will be able to make your report promptly...list all members on whom you are not paying the Imperial Tax...The Province tax of 25c per member per quarter is due...” Pencil notation at bottom reflects this Klan had 45 members. VG...plus; Klan document, 1p. folio “Kilgrapp’s Quarterly Report” unissued. Fine...plus; Three “Kilgrapp’s Quarterly Report” 1p. octavo, with Klan Seal, and printed bythe Ku Klux Press. Fine...plus; Klan Bulletin, 1p. quarto, on “Imperial Palace Invisible Empire Knights of the Ku Klux Klan - Realm of Texas Office of Great Titan” letterhead, June 12, 1922, addressed to the Klokards ofall Klans, from the Imperial Klokard, William James Mahoney, and reads in part: “...This first bulletin is to announce the inauguration of the Imperial Klokard’s Department to function actively for the instruction and information of the Klans and Klansmen of America, in order that they may have dependable and accurate information on all subjects relating to the Klan, its principles, ideals, and all the forces opposed to it...” VG....plus; Klan Document Signed, “Boyd T. Collier” Great Titan, 1p. folio, Realm of Texas, c. 1923, and reads in part: “...On Jany 10th, your quarterly report for the 4th quarter of 1923 will be due at this office and this letter is being sent to you in the hope that you will be able to make your report promptly...list all members on whom you are not paying the Imperial Tax...The Province tax of 25c per member per quarter is due...” VG. ...plus; Typed Letter Signed, “Brown Harwood”, 2p. quarto, Fort Worth, Texas, May 30, 1922, addressed to “All Exalted Cyclops and Kligraphs” in the Realm of Texas, and reads: “...You are advised that Judge E.J. Clark has been appointed general counsel for the Realm of Texas, Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, and will represent this organization in all litigation in this Realm...In announcing the appointment of Judge Clark as general counsel, it is advisable to outline in a general way the policies of the legal department in this Realm, which are as follows: ‘As every loyal citizen of these United States owes allegiance primarily to the government, and the duly constituted sovereign powers, there must be nothing contain in any obligation imposed by this order that would require any action on the part of a member inconsistant with the duty that he owes his government...” More.
