A good war-date Confederate POW letter, 2pp. 8vo., written by Pvt. Archer J. Fitzgerald, Co. E, 3rd Virginia Cavalry, Fort Delaware, August 19, 1864 to Mrs. A. W. Emby, in part: "I have understood from Lieut. Ferguson that Mr. E. G. Booth of Nottoway City, Va. has requested that we should write to you for such articles as we need. There are three our us here, two of which are related to Mr. Booth…if you would be kind enough to send us fifteen dollars. We will be responsible to Mr. Booth for the amount if you should send it. We would like to have a check if it will be as convenient to you…".
