Two manuscript documents, 4to and 8vo, total 4pp., January 10, 1865, pertaining to the Habeas Corpus hearing of one David Simmons, Deputy Sheriff of Hinds County. Simmons, claiming to already be enlisted locally in Captain Barr's Company of State Troops, was trying to avoid being drafted into the Confederate Army proper.
