Union war-date imprint, INSTRUCTIONS: COUNTERSIGN SIGNALS, 6pp., 4to, Headquarters, Army of the Potomac, Washington, October-November, 1861, protocols and actual countersigns are provided here for communications at the front. A manuscript note on the blank 7th page reads, "This circular is insofar confidential, that the office receiving it, will not make its contents public, nor will he reveal them unless in discharge of signal duty, to others than officers actually in the service of the United States." Very good condition.
