A great war-date Union soldier's letter 2pp. 8vo., written by Pvt. Frank Ashley, Co. H, 64th Ohio, "Camp Nine miles from Atlanta and South of The Chattahoochie, [Ga.], July 13, 1864," , in part: "…we had to move that day 16 miles up the river to a town called Roswell situated 1/2 mile from the river to support the cavalry while effecting a crossing which was done without trouble…it was very hot. We suffered considerable…we came back to our former camp…moved over the river where the remainder of the corps is. It crossed while we were gone…I am sure Atlanta will soon be ours…". VG
