STUART, J.E.B. (1833-1864) Confederate cavalry general, recieved the Thanks of Congress, for his actions duringt the ride around McClellan. Killed at Yellow Tavern May 11, 1864. Autograph Letter Signed, “J.E.B. Stuart 1st Lt. Cav.” 1p. oblong ocavo, Fort Riley, Kansas Territory, December 2, 1858, and reads “I enclose herewith $3 for the Congressional Globe and appendix for the approaching Session. I hope you will try to send it reguarly, last winter I received only one or two for the first month...” Framed with image of him and $3 Merchantile Bank Note. VG.
