A good war-date Union officer's letter, 2pp. 4to., written by Lt. Thomas J. Gregg, Co. F, 6th Penn. Cavalry (Rush's Lancers) as newly appointed aide de camp on the staff of his brother Brig. Gen. David Mc. Gregg, "Hd. Quart 3rd Cav. Div., Warrenton, [Va.], June 4, 1863", in part: "…I am now on bro-Dave's staff [as] A. D. C…left my regiment yesterday. Dave is very well…last night all the Cavalry was under arms. The advance guard of a large Rebel cavalry force crossed at Sulphur Springs, but was driven back expected to be ordered out but had the good fortune not to be…Dave sends his love…". VG
