A good war-date Union officer's letter, 1p. 4to., written by Lt. Thomas J. Gregg, Co. F, 6th Penn. Cavalry (Rush's Lancers) as aide de camp on the staff of his brother Brig. Gen. David Mc. Gregg, "Head Quart 2nd C. C., Warrenton, [Va.], Jan. 24, 1864", to his recently released Libby Prison brother Henry H. Gregg, in part: "Your telegram was received. You…wished to have your valise sent on…I will forward it by express from Washington. I expected to be in Washington by this time as Dave intended me to meet his wife there. Yesterday…he received orders to report at Corps Head Quarters…will command the Corps for twenty days in Genl. Pleasonton's absence…by what means were you paroled…". VG.
