A good group of three war-date Union officer's letters, totaling 6 1/2pp. 8vo., written by Lt. Thomas J. Gregg, Co. F, 6th Penn. Cavalry (Rush's Lancers) as aide de camp on the staff of his brother Brig. Gen. David Mc. Gregg. FIRST TWO ARE: "Head Quart 2nd C. C., April 8, 1864", to his sister, in part: "…the grand ball of these Div. will come off on Friday night. We expect to have splendid times. Our vacation will soon be over then we will be off for many a hard battle…Dave expects to return with her…I enclose a photograph of my negro (Phil) and my two horses. Dave returned yesterday…FINAL; is a good war-date letter, 4pp. 8vo., written by Gregg, on "ARMY OF THE POTOMAC. Office of Special Inspector of Cavalry" stationery, Aug. 11, 1864 with routine military content. All overall VG. (3 letters)
