A great war-date Union officer's POW letter, 1p. 8vo., written by Captain Henry H. Gregg, Co. B, 13th Penn. Cavalry., "Libby Prison, Richmond, Va., Nov. 15, 1863", addressed to his brother after being captured at Sulphur Springs, Va., on Oct. 12, 1863, in part: "…I would far rather be with my Reg. than confined in this place of imprisonment. It would have been a great pleasure to command such a Co. as I had. You perhaps have heard the experiences of officers who have been here. We are treated now as prisoners ever had. We have neither sumptuous living nor sumptuous beds. I can weather it out however…a number of officers of the 6th Pa. Cav.-acquaintances of yours are here. I do not know them by name…remember me to Dave…". VG
