A great war-date, ca. 1864 CDV entitled, SEYMOUR & HIS FRIENDS, published in opposition to Horatio Seymour's (1810-1886) second bid for governor of New York. Shown are both real life as well as imaginary "friends" of Seymour including Irish rouges. Their representation on the image represent Seymour's lenient stance against the 1863 New York City Draft Rioters. Interestingly enough, the devil as well as a cat find their place among his many friends. Overall VG
