General George B. McClellan (December 3, 1826 - October 29, 1885) was a Major General during the Civil War and the Democratic Presidential nominee in 1864. Loosing to Abraham Lincoln, later served as the Governor of New Jersey. Oil painting, on board, of McClellan in his Civil War General's uniform. The painting (Sight) measures 16" x 20", and framed to an overall size of 19 ¼" x 23 ¼". The painting is not signed, but certainly done by an accomplished artist. Likely done sometime after the Civil War, ca. 1880's. The board is a bit "Bowed" at the bottom, and there a couple of small scratches, overall in fine condition. The frame has come chips.
