Issue of THE MEMPHIS DAILY ADVOCATE, January 17, 1860, with advertisement that reads in part: “...Having associated with me in my old business - that of buying and selling negroes, both on commission and on private account...I can tender to my firends better facilities than I ever been able to offer them...I respectfully solicit for our new firm, from my old friends and customers and the public, the patronage which I have largely and liberally received hitherto from the, and will only add, that which we promise or say, we guarantee. N.B. FORREST...FORREST, JONES & CO.... DEALERS IN SLAVES....500 NEGROES WANTED. I will pay more than any other person for No. 1 negroes, suited to the New Orleans market. N.B. FORREST.” VG.
