Autograph Letter Signed, 4p. quarto, Confederate Furnace, August 1, 1861, and reads in part: “..I am at home with my little ones only. Mr. Hareston left last Sunday for Manassas & thence to where ever our dear brothers are....George came back taking a trip to the Junction, visited the battle field said there were still many dead of the Yankees still on the field, unburried & great numbers so poorly covered that the first rain will wash off their slight covering & leave their miserable corpses exposed....” VG.
