JACKSON, Andrew. (1767-1845) Seventh President of the United States 1829-37, unsuccessful candidate in 1824 winning a plurality of votes but losing to John Quincy Adams by House decision, Major General and hero of War of 1812. "Old Hickory" was the first President to ride on a train in 1833, and survived the first attempted assassination of a President in 1835. President Andrew Jackson signed land grant. One page, on vellum, measuring 9 ½" x 15 ¾", Washington, D.C., November 2, 1832. granting Olivia Frazier land……"On the waters of the Bayous"….in Louisiana, one thousand eight hundred acres. The document is boldly signed by President Jackson, being a large 6" long signature. The grant is also countersigned by Elijah Hayward as commissioner of the General Land Office. Jackson land grants do appear on the market, but rarely one issued to a woman. Fine condition with the original seal.
