McKINLEY, William Jr. (1843-1901) Twenty-fifth President 1897-1901, Representative and Governor of Ohio, assassinated September 6, 1901 by anarchist Leon F. Czolgosz while attending the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. Despite some scandal in his Administration, McKinley was considered by both parties to be a man of absolute integrity and dedication. A small folio size DS by President McKinley, Executive Mansion, Washington, February 28, 1898, addressed to the United States Senate. McKinley is forwarding the report of the Commissioners as it pertains to the International Exposition held in Brussels in 1897 (the report is not with this document) . McKinley has signed with a bold large signature. After extensive research this is the only document we could locate signed by McKinley being addressed to the U.S. Senate. Document has some light soiling, fold at the center, else fine. A great rarity.
