Autograph Letter Signed, “B. Michael” 1p. octavo, July 27, 1861, Richmond, Virginia, addressed to Mrs. Thomspon and reads in full: “Dear Lady. I write you to let you know that I am well & doing well. I intend to stand up to the Capt. all through. Wash for him, cook for him & do all his little jobs for him. The Capt. is a fine fellow. I blacked his shoes for him last night & will again when they need. The men all love the Capt. and will stand up to him, we are afraid he will leave us, and to take a higher office, but we wont give him up...” VG. It is possible this is a negro servant. VG.
