This portrait is captioned "Jack Johnson, Champion of the World, in His Chicago Home." Since the caption refers to a world championship, the image post-dates Johnson's 1908 heavyweight victory over Canadian Tommy Burns in Australia. Johnson had held the World Colored Heavyweight title since 1903, but finally broke the color line once out of Jim Crow's reach. Chipped edges with small creases. Fair condition.
