Autograph Letter Signed, Capt. George Jackson, 1-1/4p. folio, September 19, 1861, Post Monterey, addressed to Lt. Garnett Andrews, as A.A.A.G to Gen. Henry Jackson, it reads in part: “...The men are begining to break down under the press of their hard duty. Besides I have a good many sick of the command...A reference to my morning report will show that their are 135 horses & mules, belonging to my command present at this post...It is highly important that the horses should be properly guarded at night, to prevent them from injuring one another...” More.
