Autograph Endorsement Signed “Approved & Especially Recommended Geo. P. Harrison Brig. Genl.” on verso of Autograph Letter Signed, “J.W. Postier” Capt. A.H. Long per I.A. Everett Comdg Co E Ross Batt., 1p. folio, Camp Lee, February 22, 1862, and reads “I respectfully make application through your Office for a furlough for Seven (7) Days to visit Ft. Valley in Kinston Co. Ga, in consideration of the following circumstances viz. His wife has been & still is in very feeble health & is daily becoming alarmingly ill & her desire as well as my own is to visit her, as I have never made application to leave my post. In connection wit hthe above facts, my planting interest demands my immediate attention, in as much as my overseer has enlisted in the army...” VG.
