Autograph Letter Signed, by Robert Isbell, 2nd Va. Cavalry, 4p. octavo, pencil, Camp Near Culpepper Court House, March 24, no year, and reads in part: “...I stated taht I had lost all of my clothing in the fight we had on the Rappahannock river, I have since made a raise in under clothing...I expect this regiment will take a scout up toward Leesburg in a few days...I have seen it stated in some of the Lynchburg papers that five of the Wise Troops were taken prisoner. It was a mistake only five of us was in teh fight not one of the five were taken two of the five however were killed and two wounded. The balance of the men were on picket...” About VG.Robert Isbell (1836-1921) was promoted to 2nd Lt. on May 8, 1863, and was wounded at Todd’s Tavern, Virginia, May 8, 1864.
