Williams” 7th South Carolina Infantry, 2p. quarto, Bull Run, January 30, 1862, and reads in part: “... we have just completed our Winterquarters, it is about three miles from our former Camp, towards Manassas, we are on the side of the Creek next Manassas...our Teams look badly they have had so much hauling to do and over bad roads. They are running a railroad from Manassas to Centerville for the convenience of the Troops at that place...we all volunteered for two years but we could not get the company thirty men was all we could get...” About VG.
