BRUCE, Eli Metcalf (1828-1866) Representative from Kentucky in the Confederate Congress, 1862-65. Autograph Letter Signed, “EM Bruce” 1p. Richmond, October 29, 1864, addressed to a general, possible General Breckenridge, and reads “Your favor 23rd received I send you all the reports of battles which have been published. I am having Genl. D.H. Hills report copied which I will forward next week. It is believed that Genl. Polk never made a report of the battle of Chickamauga, if he did it has never reached the department. Am gratified to have so favorable a ‘report’ of the war steed...” Pressure sensative tape repair at far right, affects some text and signature, else Good.
