A great pair of Confederate patriotic songs, 4pp. folio, written by Elizabeth E. Everhart dated April 16, 1863, with address panel addressed for: "Miss Mary E. Everhart, Berryville, Clark Co., Va." The first song is entitled: "A Stone Wall Song.", and reads, in small part: " Come Louisiana soldiers and listen to my song…we've gained some glorious victories…Jackson is the wagon…will all take a ride. We had a fight at Royal where the Yankees took a stand and when we opened…they retreated man to man. We had brave Col. [Leroy A.] Stafford and the Red Knight by his side and [Chatham R.] Wheat and his battalion to join us in the ride. Dick Taylor was our general but Jackson chief and comm[ander]. We drove them down the Valley and into Maryland. They invade our country and lived at our expense. They tore down every dwelling and burnt up every fence…and then sent old Fremont…we have another…as good as another. It is the first of Maryland…all they want is half a chance to finish out the ride, Jackson, Stuart and Ashby brave…sent captives South in chains like slaves…on to Richmond raised the cry…but Beauregard…at Bull Run took his stand…McDowell crossed the rubiccon…his legions faltered, fired and run…in Dixie Land I take my stand…Copied by Elizabeth E. Everhart for Miss. Mary C. Everhart...". The second song is entitled, "Air Maryland.", and reads, in small part: "In topsy turvy Yankeedom where worthless arts and ism come…and black and white are all one race…In muffled cloak by railroad run Old Abe smeared in to Washington…Fort Sumpter fell mid smoke and blaze at Bethel Butler fled amazed…hurrah, hurrah for Dixie Land…the South resumes her ancient rights…shout save our flag and Soldiers come…beware, take care in Humbug land…".
