The cover is truly beautiful with a 5 cent blue (CSA Scott 6) tied with a perfect CHESTER C. H., S. C. postmark dated June 27th, 1862, addressed The cover comes with a Confederate stamp alliance certificate of authenticity. “W.H. Gist, Columbia So. Ca.” It was W. H. Gist who called for the Secession Convention to be held in Columbia (his home) on December 17th, 1860 (The Convention was moved to Charleston because of a small pox outbreak in Columbia). At the convention Gist was one of the signers of the Ordinance of Secession on December 20th, 1860.
