Partially printed document, "Special Requisition," signed twice "Geo W Rains / Col Comdg Arsenal," one page with docketing, 4to, Augusta, Georgia, November 23, 1864, shoes and clothing are itemized for "15 Negroe Slaves hired for Govt Work in Arsenal at Augusta Ga." George Washington Rains of North Carolina was, along with his brother Gabriel, one of the foremost munitions experts in the Confederacy. Very good condition.
