An unusual Pennsylvania home front, 2pp. 8vo., written by John Jimeson, Luthersburg, Clearfield, Co., Penn., Oct. 19, 1862 written to Pvt. John M. Ross, Co. H, 37th Penn. Vols. who was shot in the face at Fredericksburg loosing his left eye as a consequence, reading, in part: "Old friends and fellow sinners and travelers to the bar of Andy Jack. I now take my one in fist to address you a few lines hoping you may find you right side up with care and always at your post ready to do your duty…to put down this unholy Rebellion. If you ever get to where the Pennsylvania Reserves are encamped and the 5 reg. lies…and also the 105 reg. (and Col. Kane's Bucktails)…you will find in those regiments a goodly number of men with whom I am acquainted [with]…answer immediately and tell me all the scenes you have seen and all the fights you are in…on the 16th of the month Oct[ober] there was 22 men drafted out of this township…".
