A wonderful collection of five (5) American political silhouette lithograph prints published by E. B. & E. C. Kellogg, Hartford, CT, 1844, each measuring approximately 12 1/2" x 16 5/8" and from drawings by William H. Brown. This lot includes: MARTIN VAN BUREN (1782-1862) eighth president of the United States, eighth vice president of the U. S. and Secretary of State under Andrew Jackson and Free Soil Party presidential candidate in 1850. JOHN MARSHALL (1755-1835) fourth chief justice of the United States, leader of the Federalists and Secretary of State under John Adams. JOHN RANDOLPH (1773-1833) Congressman from Virginia and minister to Russia who opposed the 1820 Missouri Compromise. ALEXANDER MACOMB (1782-1841) commanding general of the United States army from 1828-1841 and hero of the battle of Plattsburg receiving the Thanks of Congress and a Congressional Gold Medal for his conduct during that campaign.
