Lee,” on partially printed “Confederate States of America, Military Telegraph” form, 4-3/4” x 8,” Richmond, June 3d, 1864, 1pp. Lee endorses this from the field on the upper right margin of the telegram. The telegram manuscript in full, “Richmond, June 3d, 1864:2.20pm. To Genl. Beauregard: General Lee urges reinforcements to Ransom on north side James River. The question is again submitted to you. Have you any further developments of the enemy. It is certain Butler, with a large portion of his force, is in Lee's front. Braxton Bragg, Genl.” Then it is docketed on the reverse., "Richmond, June 3, 1864, B.Bragg, Gen'l. asks reinforcements For gen'l. Lee. Butler with large portion of his force in Lee's front."
