A complete issue of Harper’s Weekly, December 21, 1878, 24pp., disbound, VG. Just a very pointed Nast full page racial cartoon depicting a Black man approaching a Southern White man. Caption, “Poor ignorant Black man wants to know, and you noble white gentleman do tell.” Then the “Black Question. ‘Whom do you mean by the People?” which is followed by White answer, ‘How dare you wave the Bloody shirt again?” On the wall are several slogans announcing the States Rights issue, such as, “As long as the right of the people of the South to self government is made ....”
