Manuscript document, a legal deposition signed by John M. Autry with a "mark," 4pp., 4to, Decatur County, Tennessee, November 6, 1865, reading in part: "…on the third day of April AD 1864 near Brownsport Tennessee whilst on his way from his Regiment (which was then stationed at Clifton Tennessee) to Decaturville Tennessee by order of Captain Guthrie for the purpose of getting recruits for said Regiment he was captured by the Rebel general Forests Command was sent directly to the Rebel prison at Andersonville Georgia, that he was held a prisoner of war from said third day of April 1864 to the twenty ninth day of April AD 1865 at which last mentioned time he was Exchanged…He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the arrears of pay due him…" Overall age toning, very good condition."
