War-date Union soldier's letter, 3pp. 8vo., written by Pvt. Everett W. Miner, Co. C, 7th New Hampshire Vols., St. Augustine, Florida, Jan. 26, 1863, in part: "…a Catholic Bishop came in from Savannah…the rebels have got pretty badly whipped in Tennessee. No rebels have been seen outside for some time…the Bishop saw Mr. Riddell and the rest of the prisoners at Lake City…he says they were well and treated well…"
