1865, "ACTS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF VIRGINIA," Alexandria, Fine. 9" x 6" pamphlet, 74 pages. Contains laws and acts from December 5, 1864 through 1865. Reflective of a loyalist government seated in Alexandria, VA--not a confederate assembly. Some of the laws include plans for buying stock in a national bank (as opposed to financial institutions of the South); refusal to grant redress to slaveholders who lost African Americans who were freed by the Union army, or otherwise "hired" by the conquering forces. Browned, soiled cover. Heavy wear on spine. Notation in pencil on front cover reads: "Occupied Virginia." A very rare document, in fine condition.
