Wilson, Thomas Woodrow(1856-1924) was the 28th President of the United States, in office from 1913 to 1921. A leader of the Progressive Movement, he served as President of Princeton University from 1902 to 1910, and then as the Governor of New Jersey from 1911 to 1913. With the Republican Party split in 1912, he led his Democratic Party to control both the White House and Congress for the first time in nearly two decades. Nice group of two Wilson items. The first being a signed White House card, signed and dated March 10, 1913, six days after being inaugurated President. Has some old mounting remnant on the reverse, else fine. Also included is a TLS from Wilson's wife Edith thanking a friend for some music that she brought for the President. Comes with the original transmittal cover, fine. It is said the Wilson's wife ran the White House after the President had a stroke, something that both the President and the First Lady always denied.
