Confederate officer's war-date letter by Captain Nicholas Blackwell, "New Albany Greys," Co."K,' 21st Mississippi Infantry (as of October 1861), 4pp., 8vo, Richmond, Virginia, to his brother Charles, reading, in part: "…reached Richmond Thursday 7 ½ P.M. - Found the company greatly improved in health & drilling…I guess we will leave here this week to join our battalion at Manassas…It is reported here that our government has been recognized by England & if so a speedy termination of the war is expected…Tell me in your answers how those negroes came out in that poisoning affair when your write…" Very good condition.
