Jackson, 3rd Vermont, Camp Griffin, [Fairfax Co., Va.], Mar. 7, 1862, in part: "…you will have to go to a Member of Congress and get a letter of introduction in order to get a pass…I do not know whether Magoon has gone home yet…he has had good luck with the [selling of his Magic] Compound…I bought a watch of one of our nurses. He is a jeweler by trade and works at it when off duty…I paid 20 dollars for it…the Regt…went to Vienna to guard the workmen who are rebuilding the R. R. destroyed by the rebels last November…the R. R. will soon be finished to that point …when an advance is made the 2nd Regt. Hospital (made of logs) is to be used for a Brigade Hospital.
