Bound Volume of 26 issues of Gleason’s Pictorial, Boston, January 7, 1854 through July 1, 1854, includes Index to Illustrations, each issue 16 page issue is replete with wood cut engravings. These early illustrations are fascinating, such as; January 14th, center spread “Flags of All Nations” and full page allegoric Lord’s Prayer; January 21st, center spread “Costumes of Nations of the World,” and full page of Franklin’s “The Art of Making Money;” February 25th, front page Washington’s Birthday; April 8th, front page Thomas Jefferson; June 3rd, 1/2 page portrait “Brigham Young, the Mormon President.” VG.
