The image shows Jefferson Davis, dressed in a petticoat and bonnet and holding the engraved sword “Lost Cause,” as he stands atop the dead union sodiers. Andersonville and Libby prison are in the background. The foreground shows the former Confederates cheering. The caption tells the tale; “Our Hero.”
