He writes in part: "Is there any preperations being made down south for battle. I think and so does a great many others thare is no use in it because if Lincoln has sense enough to be president he has sense not to try to force the south into measures of course he has & will not undertake it I think honist old Abr will make the best president we have ever had. ...."
