Uniforms of US Army- complete with 44 Chromolithographed Plates by NELSON, Henry Loomis. Army of the United States. New York: 1905. Plates are copyright 1895 by Brig. Gen. S. B. Holabird, published by B. M. Whitlock, litho by G. H. Buek. Presented in bound book for text, gold embossed cover, and similiar slip case for chromoliths. Elephant Folio - 17" tall. An increasingly uncommon compendium of military uniforms (Army). When seen, plates are usually missing, or it is some type of reprint edition. This is the original FIRST EDITION. Binding still very sound. Full explanatory text (very detailed descriptions of each uniform) for the forty-four plates. The color plates are fine, printed on heavy paper stock. Uniforms include volunteers, mercenaries, officers, enlisted men...depending on era (Revolutionary War, Mexican War, Civil War and beyond). This is a very nice set.
