A 3¢ U. S. stamp is hand-canceled on this cover carrying a Danbury, Connecticut CDS dated August 9 (1865) and addressed to "Capt. Henry D. Marshall . 29th Reg. C.V. (Colored) / 25th / A.C. / Brownsville, Texas." Marshall was commissioned into Co. "E" or the 29th on February 16, 1864 and served until mustering out on October 24, 1865. His regiment was Grand after participating the final Virginia campaigns from Petersburg to Appomattox. Arithmetic on the back, else very good condition
