Confederate soldier's war-date letter by Private A. W. Thompson, Co. "G," 6th Arkansas Infantry, 2 pp., oblong 8vo, Bell Station, Kentucky, to his parents, reading, in part: "…I left Memphis on the 25th and got to camp on the 27th inst…expect a battle every day, the enemy are in twelve miles of us we can hear their canons our pickets have been all around there…My address A W Thompson Bowling Green Ky Columbia Guards in the care of Capt Austin 6th Ark Reg Gen Hindman Brigade." Thompson would serve until mortally wounded in Atlanta on July 22, 1864. Very good condition.
