Confederate soldier's war-date letter by William Halsell, one page, 8vo, Scooba, Mississippi, May 2, 1863, to "Messrs Raisel & Dunlap," reading, "I send you this note on Mr. T. W. Perrin. He is now at home. I will have to go back to the Army soon and if this note will answer in the place of my own it will oblige me very much as I wish to get my business settled up. Mr. Perrin has a Substitute. You recollect there was a difference of a small amount. I send five dollars by the boy which you will pay the balance out of. Please calculate the interest and send my note by Boy. By doing so you will oblige." A William Halsell appears on the rolls of the 35th and 41st Mississippi Infantry. Very good condition.
