A nice war-date 1/6th plate ruby-red ambrotype showing an unidentified corporal of Co. K, 14th New Hampshire Vols. standing wearing a regulation frock coat and holding his kepi with his regimental insignia prominently displayed for the camera while on his chest is also pinned a Masonic badge. The 14th New Hampshire was mustered into service in late 1862 and saw duty at Old Capitol Prison, Washington until they were ordered to the Shenandoah Valley and fought valiantly at the battles of Winchester, Berryville and Cedar Creek. Afterwards, they helped end the war while with Sherman in the Carolinas. The image is housed in its original leatherette case with American patriotic design. Overall near fine
