A rare printed notice from the Office Provost Marshal, Parish of Orleans. The notice was sent to a "Registered Enemy of the United States". The notice was sent to J.O. Decaster, apparently a woman as "Mr." has been crossed out. It reads in part "You, being a Registered Enemy of the United States, are hereby notified that you must leave this parish for the so-called Confederacy before the 15th inst". The document, which measures 5" x 8 1/2", is signed in type by "C.W. Killborn, Provost Marshal, New Orleans, LA". On the reverse is Decaster's address. Apparantly this was hand delivered. A scarce Document which we have never encountered before, fine.
