Letterhead, Demopolis, Alabama, April 25, 1864, reading, "XI upon the grounds of justice, equity and public necessity, with the sanction of the War Department, Private Ottoway E. Smith, Capt. Jos. A Porter's company of Engineer troops - a wagonmaster by profession is hereby detailed to pursue his vocation at Belmont, Sumter County, Alabama until further orders." Creases, good condition.
