An authentic issue of Harper’s Weekly, December 5, 1863, 16pp., disbound, VG. From the interior, a horizontal full page engraving, “The Prisons At Richmond - Union Prisoners at Belle Isle” shows the horrible conditions of these victims. Then, from the center spread, an incredible nast illustration “Thanksgiving-Day, November 26, 1863.” The center is taken with Columbia praying at the alter surrounded by six vignettes; The Army, The Navy; Washington and Lincoln; Town; Country, and Emancipation. Very impressive and frameable.
