Civilian Confederate war-date letter by J. W. Whitfield, 2pp., 4to, Aberdeen, Mississippi, July 24, 1862, to Uncas Bounce, n.p., reading, in part: "The Sheriff of Oktibbeha County has left a lot of guns collected in his county at Tibb Station, in the Mobile & Ohio Rail Road for us to inspect….I wrote to Prairie Station to take the cars to go for these guns. I have just returned from Prairie Station it being impossible for me to get on the cars Genl Bragg having issued orders for the officers in charge of the trains to let no one on - not even invalid soldiers while the trains are transporting troops…These troops are going either to Chattanooga or Richmond. These guns shall be attended to as soon as possible…I heard today that Genl Price was going to march with his army on Memphis…" Very good condition.
