Partially printed receipt for a cannon, one page, 4to, imprinted "The State of Mississippi," 1862, here a 10-pounder "was turned over to the State of Mississippi by order of Gen'l Dahlgren & that the price charged is about the original cost of said gun." The Pennsylvania-born Confederate Brigadier Charles G. U. Dahlgren was brother to both Union Rear Admiral John Dahlgren and Union European agent William Dahlgren. Charles Dahlgren had settled in Mississippi as a young man and stayed loyal to his adopted state after secession. Very good condition.
