"C," 39th Alabama Infantry, Shelbyville, Tennessee, May 10, 1863, 4pp., 8vo, to his sister, reading, in part: "…we are expecting a squad of Yankees to attack us tonight…I recon you have herd about our boys Deserting our Company…I sorrow to write such news…I think that this awful war will close sometime this year…I will tell you our Regt has to gard the 26th Ala of Knights to keep them from Deserting…" Very good condition.
